Master of Arts in Religion

On behalf of the faculty of the School of Christian Studies and the Department of Religion, I welcome you into a community of learning, rigorous scholarship, academic freedom, ministry, and service. The primary goal of the School of Christian Studies and the Department of Religion is to prepare individuals for various Christian ministries. It is a school and a department whose mission is Christian by tradition and Baptist by heritage.

As a fully integrated part of East Texas Baptist University, the School of Christian Studies maintains a clear identification with and loyalty to the Christian faith and functions within the context of historic Baptist values and principles. The school is fortunate to be blessed with a strong and dedicated faculty characterized by excellent academic preparation, deep personal faith, and commitment to the total development of each student.

Our new Master of Arts in Religion is designed to provide opportunity for intensive study in Christian scriptures, theology, and ministry. It was constructed with a focus upon effectively equipping the local-church minister who has a desire for personal and professional education and spiritual growth. Thus it is ideal for students who wish to have a firm biblical underpinning for effective ministry and for those who desire to attain an academic foundation for further graduate study.

This is an exciting time to be at East Texas Baptist University! God richly bless you as you seek God’s will in choosing the right graduate school for your needs. Please browse through our website to learn more about our programs and tradition and feel free to contact us regarding your specific questions and needs.
