Plan Your Career Now

Job Searching is a full time venture. The career center has some great books, advice and websites on how to start a search.

studentThe best jobs are found by networking with your friends, relatives and asking them to talk to their friends and relatives to help you find a position.  The best jobs are usually not found on-line or in the newspaper because they are filled from within the company or by a referral from a current employee or a friend.  You should start building your network early by getting to know as many people as possible in the career you have chosen.  You can get a head start by doing informational interviews or internships.

Remember, a resume is to get you an interview, an interview will get you the job, but your performance on the job is what will help you keep the job.

Deciding on a career takes time, effort and motivation. Here are some things you can do as early as possible in your college years. When you graduate, you will be informed and prepared to meet the working world. As Mark Twain said, "The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work".
