ETBU offers a limited financial aid packet to its international students. Students are limited to two (2) unfunded scholarships and workstudy.
Here are some of the scholarships for which you could be eligible
International Scholarship
$1,500 per academic year
Unfunded scholarships are noted with an asterik (*).
*The amounts listed below are for new students beginning Fall 2005 and Spring 2006.
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
* Students must maintain full-time status.
* Scholarships for freshmen or those transferring less than 24 hours are based on ACT or SAT scores.
* Scholarships for those who transfer 24 hours or more are based on transfer GPA.
* Must live in campus housing unless permanent residence is within commuting distance.
Academic Scholarship Level I* - $5,000 per academic year
Requirements:
- ACT of 30 - 31 or SAT of 1320 - 1400 OR Transfer at least 24 hours with a 3.4 GPA
- Maintain a 3.4 GPA and full-time status
Academic Scholarship Level II* - $4,000 per academic year
Requirements:
- ACT of 28 - 29 or SAT of 1240 - 1310 OR Transfer at least 24 hours with a 3.3 GPA.
- Maintain a 3.3 GPA and full-time status.
Academic Scholarship Level III* - $3,000 per academic year
Requirements:
ACT of 26 - 27 or SAT of 1160 - 1230 OR Transfer at least 24 hours with a 3.2 GPA.
- Maintain a 3.2 GPA and full-time status
Academic Scholarship Level II* - $2,000 per academic year
Requirements:
- ACT of 24 - 25 or SAT of 1090 - 1150 OR Transferat least 24 hours with a 3.0 - 3.199 GPA
- Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and full-time status.
High School Honor Graduate Scholarship
- Valedictorian/Salutatorian of an accredited high school
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA and full-time status
- $1,350 per academic year
CHURCH RELATED SCHOLARSHIPS
Christian Education Cooperative Grant*
- Requires a separate application (available on FORMS page)
Church must supply initial funds
- Must re-apply annually
- Requires a church action, verified by pastor
- University will match home church contribution amount up to $1000 per academic year
Ministry Scholarship
Initial applicants must be a member in good standing of a Baptist Church (regardless of denominational affiliation or geographical location)
- Renewals must be signed by the pastor of a church cooperating with the Baptist General Convention of Texas
- Provide certification, license or ordination papers from a Baptist church
- Participate in Advance in Ministry program and complete Religion 2440 before graduation
- Be an ETBU student in good standing
- Submit annual renewal application through Office of In-Service Guidance
- $60 per semester hour
Christian Leadership Scholarship*
Initial application required (available on FORMS page). Renewable each year therafter
- Display Christian Leadership through various activities (see application)
- Recommendation from pastor/staff member
- Maintain 2.0 GPA
- $750 to $3,750 per academic year
Minister's Dependent Scholarship
- For dependents of full-time staff of Southern Baptist Churches or agencies
- Maintain 2.0 GPA
- $750 per academic year
Missionary Scholarship
Students who receive the International Mission Board Post-Secondary MK Allowance are also eligible to receive from East Texas Baptist University a scholarship equal to $2500 per academic year for a maximum of four years. In addition, the student will be eligible for the $600 per year Minister's Dependent Scholarship. All students are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students receiving the MK tuition discount are not eligible for scholarships or other assistance from East Texas Baptist University.
ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Sibling Scholarship*
- Available to brothers and sisters who are concurrently enrolled at ETBU
- $1000 per academic year
Residence Hall Scholarship*
- This is a single student residence hall scholarship for students who graduate from a high school in Harrison, Marion, Gregg, or Panola County as well as those from Caddo or Bossier Parish. It is equivalent to the cost of a double occupancy room in Feagin and Merle Bruce halls. Students choosing to live in other residence halls will be required to pay the difference in cost.
Pilgrim Pride Scholarship
- $500 - $3000 per academic year
- Awarded to employees of Pilgrims Pride Industries and their dependents
Hope Pierce Tartt
- $1000 - $3000 per academic year
- Primarily for Harrison County residents with ACT of 18 and a 2.0 GPA
- Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA
Music and Theatre Scholarships
- Are available by demonstrating an exceptional level of performance during an on-campus audition. Dates for auditions may be obtained through the Music and Theatre Departments
