Deciding on a career takes hard work and motivation. Here are some things you can do as early as possible in your college years. When you graduate, you will be informed and prepared to meet the working world. As Mark Twain said, "The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work".
Let's get started:
1. Visit the Career Development Center at Scarborough Hall 104.
2. Study the ETBU catalog and Majors.
3. Read magazines and browse through books and newspapers from the library or online to find articles about careers. We have free copies of Job Choices.
4. Make an appointment to visit a faculty member of a department you are interested in and ask about what you can do with that degree.
5. Take the Discover Assessment Online.
6. Attend the Career Fair every Spring.
7. Join organizations on or off campus that you are interested in.
8. Attend workshops on career decision planning, resumes, interviewing, etc.
9. Visit www.collegegrad.com/jobsearch/map.shtml
10. Talk to everyone you meet about what they do and what you want to do!
