ETBU cracks Top-10, Liles named “Hitter of the Week”

Making moves in NCAA Division III softball, East Texas Baptist University has moved up three spots in the latest NFCA NCAA Division III national poll. ETBU moves from 11th to 8th with 143 votes.
This is the first time that ETBU has been ranked in the top 10 since May 11, 2011 when they were no. 3 in the nation. ETBU has now been in the top 25 poll for five straight weeks moving all the way up from 25th in the first weekly poll.
First baseman Lacy Liles was named American Southwest Conference “Hitter of the Week.” She batted .400 on the week (4-for-10) with four RBI, a double, a triple, and a home run. Providing a 1.000 slugging percentage, she was a key hitter in the 3-2 win over #3 Texas-Tyler with two of the three runs scored in the game. She had a RBI in the first inning to make it 1-0 and then hit a solo shot in the fourth inning to tie the game at two.
On the season, Liles is batting .414 with eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and 25 RBI. She is a junior business major from Elysian Fields.
