NEW JSTOR COLLECTIONS ADDED

       As of May 25th the new JSTOR Arts & Sciences XIII will be available. When completed by the end of 2017 the collection will contain a minimum of 125 titles, dating back to 1829, mainly in the areas of language & literature, art & art history, philosophy, and religion. Additional titles in history, music, and classical studies will also be included. For more information see http://about.jstor.org/content/arts-sciences-xiii for a description and title list.

In addition to Arts & Sciences XIII we have also added the Jewish Studies Collection which covers historical and regional aspects of Jewish Studies.

       Student Affairs will be traveling to a CASL meeting at the BGCT in Dallas on Tuesday, April 22nd. ETBU's two student representatives to the CASL Executive Committee, Reggie Flowers and Lexi Baggett, will be attending as well, and will therefore miss classes that day. Please consider these absences as excused, and work with these students to make up any missed work. Thank you for your support.

Easter is close, but I'm not. We are currently enjoying Southwest Missouri and will be until 27 April. Therefore, the caped crusader will NOT be around for Easter. ETBU SHEAR LOVE CUTS TO HELP OUT INDIVIDUALS FIGHTING CANCER

   MARSHALL, Texas (4/22/14) - The hair was falling to the floor Monday night on the first floor of the Ornelas Student Center at East Texas Baptist University as 21 people are supporting new styles after their haircuts. The haircuts came at the conclusion of an effort called Shear Love to raise funds to help two people battling cancer.

   MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/14) - The East Texas Baptist University Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mark Crim, will present a concert :With a Little Help From Our Friends," on Friday, April 25th, at 7:30 p.m. in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center. The band will be joined by the Guitar Ensemble and the Elysian Fields High School Band.

   MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/14) - The TigerCompass, East Texas Baptist University's student-produced campus newspaper, was honored at this year's Texas Intercollegiate Press Association convention in San Antonio April 10 with the Division III "Best News Story" award in the newspaper division.

ETBU DEBATE FINISHES SEASON RANKED SEVENTH IN NATION
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (4/16/14) - The East Texas Baptist University debate team competed in the International Public Debate Association National Championship Tournament April 10-13 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Ark. Over 250 competitors from 33 universities from across the country competed in the three-day event.

   BASEBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/23/14) - Winning the final game of a three game series to keep their American Southwest Tournament hopes alive, East Texas Baptist University plays their final home series of the regular season this weekend. University of the Ozarks comes in this weekend for a three game series beginning on Friday night at 6 p.m. and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Saturday's events being preceded by senior day activities honoring three members of the team.

   SOFTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (4/23/14) - A 15-game winning streak and the number two seed in the American Southwest Conference tournament is how #7 East Texas Baptist University finished the past weekend against Louisiana College. ETBU finishes their regular season this weekend against Sul Ross St. Friday night will see the first two games of the series with a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday's game will begin at 12 noon with four seniors being honored prior to the game.

BACH-PRATHER RUNS BOSTON MARATHON FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

   MARSHALL, Texas (4/22/14) - For the second year in a row, East Texas Baptist University head cross country coach Natalie Bach-Prather had the opportunity to run in the Boston Marathon after qualifying last year with her time at the race. She ran with several runners from the East Texas area that she trains with year round.

ROMERO, PARKER NAMED ASC HITTER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK

   SOFTBALL: RICHARDSON, Texas (4/22/14) - After sweeping Louisiana College for the first time in program history, East Texas Baptist University's Alyssa Romero and Shelby Parker have been named the American Southwest Conference?s hitter and pitcher of the week. Romero had a hit in each of the three games and Parker collected two wins and did not allow a run. ETBU has now had seven athletes of the week.

ETBU WINS 2ND GAME OF DH TO STAY IN HUNT FOR ASC TOURNAMENT

   BASEBALL: BELTON, Texas (4/18/14) - Pushing forward staying in contention for a spot in the American Southwest Conference tournament, East Texas Baptist University split the double header with Mary Hardin-Baylor (22-11; 17-10 ASC). UMHB took the first game , 4-3, but ETBU bounced back for an 8-4 win in game two improving to 13-20 and 10-16 in the ASC.

ETBU'S POWERFUL OFFENSE ERUPTS FOR 20 RUNS IN LC SERIES SWEEP

   SOFTBALL: PINEVILLE, La. (4/18/14 - It took one extra inning in game one to bring #7 East Texas Baptist University?s offense alive as they poured in 20 runs in two games sweeping the series over Louisiana College (20-10; 20-9 ASC), 11-1, and 9-0. ETBU is now on a 15-game winning streak and 32-5 overall.

Tied 1-1 headed into the top of the eighth inning in game one, ETBU erupted for 10 runs to throttle Louisiana College, 11-1. In game two, they scored nine runs in one inning to shorten the game to five innings.

MHB WALK-OFF SINGLE ENDS ETBU'S WINNING STREAK AT 6

   ASEBALL: BELTON, Texas (4/17/14) - A ninth inning walk-off single by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (21-10; 16-9) ended East Texas Baptist University's (13-19; 10-15 ASC) six-game winning streak, 3-2, in the first game of the three-game series in the American Southwest Conference. UMHB is currently in third place in the ASC as ETBU is fighting for a spot in the tournament.

FIVE-RUN SECOND INNING BOOSTS ETBU TO 6TH STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

   SOFTBALL: PINEVILLE, La. (4/17/14) - One inning was the difference in the game as #7 East Texas Baptist University (30-5; 24-4 ASC) pitched their sixth straight shutout, 5-0, over Louisiana College (20-9; 20-8). Five runs in the second inning is all it took for Shelby Parker to earn her 14th win of the year.
