Viruses plague millions of computer users each year, and here at ETBU, we have had our share of infections. We strive to provide the safest and most secure computing environment we can, and you can be a part of helping other students stay protected.
It is imperative you keep your Anti-Virus software updated with the latest Anti-Virus Definitions and that you also keep your computer operating system (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 ) updated with the latest patches and updates.
Even though the Macintosh platform has not been affected nearly as much as the Windows platform, it is still vital you have the latest Virus Software installed and updated on your Mac.
Do not be fooled by emails that seem too good or too bad to be true. If you have a questionable email, check Symantec's Hoax page and stay informed!
Phishing is a technique used by hackers and identity thieves to steal your login information, social security, and other personal data. ETBU and other organizations will never ask for your personal identity through email. If you do send your information to one of these Phishing attempts, please change your password immediately.
When you are using a computer at ETBU please log out when finished. This will prevent others from using the network with your user name.
