The Marshall Wonder of Lights Christmas Parade is attended each year by over 6,000 watchers. East Texas Baptist University was a major sponsor of this year’s parade produced by the Marshall Convention and Visitors Bureau. Each entry in the parade must be decorated with lights, which provides a wonderful trail of lights through the downtown area.

The Grand Marshall of the Parade was ETBU Board of Trustees Chair Sam Moseley. Sam, along with his wife, Kay and Miss ETBU Carolyn Stevens, rode at the beginning of the 80 plus entries in a vintage red convertible. The ETBU Cheer Team participated by leading off the parade and one entry from ETBU garnered an award. The Student Government Association won the Best Lighted Truck Award. The truck that SGA members decorated was the ETBU Centennial Truck won by Debbie Higginbotham back on Founders Day. Debbie, and her husband Billy, brought the truck to Marshall to be in the parade. The Higginbotham’s daughter, Savannah is a junior and member of SGA.

The ETBU Symphonic Band presented its annual Christmas concert following the parade performing on the north side of the downtown square with the historic Harrison County Courthouse providing a beautiful setting.

Members of the ETBU Baseball team also participated in the parade. Congratulations to SGA for picking up the award for Best Lighted Truck.
