With the Carthage High School Bulldogs winning their 4th state championship in six years, Carthage Head Coach Scott Surratt has picked up another state honor. The 63rd annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Football team has been released.

ETBU alum Surratt shared Coach of the Year Honors in Class 3A with Argyle’s Todd Rogers. The former  Tiger baseball player was a four-year letterman on the Hill. In 2004, Surratt was inducted into the ETBU Athletics Hall of Fame and the plaque to commemorate the honor is located in the Tiger Room at Ornelas Gymnasium with all the other members’ plaques.

One of Surratt’s players also picked up a superlative, senior quarterback Blake Bogenschutz  shared Offensive Player of the Year and was named  as first team Class 3A all-state player.   Other Carthage players coached by  Surratt  that made first team all-state were Griffin Bankhead (guard),  Tee Goree (receiver), and Mario McCain (defensive lineman).
