Sharp As An All-American
History is still being made by the 2013 East Texas Baptist University volleyball team as Kolby Sharp becomes the program’s first-ever all-American. Sharp was voted onto the AVCA All-American honorable mention team after being an all-region first-team selection.
“This is such a great honor for her to be the first volleyball player from ETBU to be named an all-American,” says head coach Lyndsay Mashe. “This becomes part of the special season we had as a team and we celebrate with her on this special award.”
Sharp becomes ETBU’s first-ever AVCA All-American and was only the third player to be voted onto the all-region team. She finished fifth in the NCAA in hitting percentage and led the American Southwest Conference. This is her seventh award this season with five coming in the ASC from the preseason defensive player of the year to being all-tournament.
She is just one of two ASC players to be named an AVCA All-American as Taylour Toso from Texas-Dallas was named to the second team.
ETBU finished the year with 32 wins which is a program and American Southwest Conference best. They also defeated every single team at the ASC Tournament and finished as the runners-up.
