Lady Tiger Named To NCAA All-Tournament Team
Finishing up her career at the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, Alyssa Romero was named to the all-tournament team for her play. Romero, an outfielder from Humble, Texas, was a four-year starter for East Texas Baptist University.
In the championship tournament, Romero went 4-of-8 (.500) with two home runs and six RBI. She hit home runs vs. Tuft’s Allyson Fournier (NFCA All-American 1st team) and Trine’s Bree Fuller. She produced all three runs vs. #1 Tufts University in game one of the tournament and had three of the 11 runs brought in against Trine University.
For the year, Romero finished batting .363 with nine home runs, eight doubles, 40 RBI, and 53 hits. She was an All-ASC first-team selection, NCAA Tyler Regional All-Tournament team, and the ASC Hitter of the Week (April 21). Last year, she was voted to the All-ASC East first-team and NFCA All-West second team.
ETBU won a program best 45 games, produced a record 20-game winning streak, and won both the Tyler Regional and Marshall Super Regional.
