A Golden Gloves boxing champion on the Hill? Yes, indeed and his name is Drew Dawson. Dawson works in the ETBU Physical Facilities Department full-time and is finishing his last semester as a student.

The former ETBU football player represented Marshall’s D-Rocks Gym Boxing Club at the 74th annual East Texas Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament held at the UT-Tyler Herrington Patriot Center last month.  Dawson of Kountze, Texas, captured the Men’s Novice 201-pound title with a majority decision over Frankie Puron of Bravo’s Boxing Club.

Dawson is scheduled to graduate this May with his Mass Communication degree and will report to boot camp just days following Spring Commencement on May 3. Dawson will serve our country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Dawson and his wife, Kaylee, have three children, Brooklyn, and twin girls, Allyson and Kaitlyn.
