East Texas Baptist University Tiger Athletics Hall of Fame member Scott Surratt can put another state championship football trophy into the case at Carthage High School.  The Carthage Bulldogs defeated the Kilgore High School Bulldogs back on Dec. 20 at AT&T Stadium, 34-23, to win the Class 3A, DI state championship.  It is the fourth time in six years, that the former Tiger baseball player has coached his football team to a state championship title.

Surratt graduated from ETBU in 1990. While at ETBU, he was a four-year letterman with the baseball team. Surratt’s name is found in the Tiger baseball record book ranking in the top 10 in hits, doubles and rbi’s. In 2004, he was inducted into the ETBU Athletics Hall of Fame.
