SPRING 2015 BLACKBOARD COURSE CREATION

It's time to create the Blackboard Courses for Spring 2015. We'll be activating that process on Friday (Nov 21st) at 2:45pm. Below is a checklist of items you'll need to complete before the courses are created

1) Check all current Master Course Templates (these are the courses you created with the "_99" at the end of the course ID) and update them with any new menus and/or items that you want reflected in the Spring 2015 course.

2) Add the new Attendance button to all of your current Master Course Templates (see link below)

       It is with bittersweet feelings we inform the ETBU Family that Paul Swearingen has accepted a call to Pastor in Southeast Texas. Paul has served in Residence Life for 5 years and made a huge impact on this community through his passion for student development.

Help us in celebrating Paul on Wednesday, November 19th at 3:00pm in the Hogue Room (refreshments will be served).

As you are likely aware, the United Way Fund Drive is currently underway in Harrison County. The local United Way raises funds for 22 different agencies which rely on the generosity of citizens of Marshall. These are great organizations that do important work for people in need in a variety of ways. Some of our own faculty and staff have family members who work in these organizations.

East Texas Baptist University faculty and staff contribute in myriad ways to our community, and the United Way is another expression of our commitment. To that end, would you consider giving again this year to the good work of the United Way? Attached is a short form to complete and return to...

The Faculty Locker rooms will NOT be available for public use starting a minimum of ONE HOUR prior to game times on GAME dates. These areas will be needed by officials to dress and conduct pre- and post-game meetings. Please note the schedule that will be posted on the lockerroom door.

ETBU OBSERVES THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY BREAK
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (11/20/14) - The administrative offices of East Texas Baptist University will close November 26-28, 2014, for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Classes will not be held November 24-28. Classes will resume and administrative offices will re-open on Monday, December 1, 2014, at 8:00 a.m.

ETBU THEATRE ARTS DEPARTMENT PRESENTS THE PROOF, DECEMBER 4TH-7TH
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (11/19/14) - The Department of Theatre Arts at East Texas Baptist University presents their fall production - The Proof by David Auburn under the direction of senior Casey Papas. Performances will be on Thursday-Saturday, December 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with a matinee on Sunday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre of the Jenna Guest Music Building located on the ETBU campus.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE APPROVES ETBU "J-PROGRAM"
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (11/18/14) - East Texas Baptist University has received approval or "redesignation" of its international "J-Program" by the United States Department of State. A "J-Program" is the designation that the State Department gives to schools and other organizations that host and send exchange students, researchers, and professors. ETBU has been involved with the exchange of professors and students from international schools for over 20 years.

   MARSHALL, Texas (11/18/14) - High School seniors and college transfer students are invited to attend Shadow Day at East Texas Baptist University Thursday, December 11, through Friday, December 12, 2014. Shadow Day is an event sponsored by the ETBU Office of Admissions that gives visiting students an opportunity to experience campus life at the four year Christian liberal arts university.

   MARSHALL, Texas (11/12/14) - East Texas Baptist University hosts a unique group of students. They are United States citizens who have spent most of their lives abroad. These students are known as "Third Culture Kids (TCKs)." While their parents are serving in overseas missions, they grow up as American children in foreign cultures. Though it may be many people's dream to experience life in another country, speak another language, and share the gospel abroad, it does not come without its challenges.

ETBU STUMBLES IN SECOND HALF, FALLS TO AUSTIN COLLEGE
 
   BASKETBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (11/18/14) - Following a quick turnaround after taking on Millsaps on Saturday the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team took the court on Tuesday night against Austin College. ETBU played tough through the first half and first ten minutes of the second half, but seemingly ran out of gas at the end of the game, as Austin College went on a 20-3 run over the last eight and a half minutes to win the game 72-62.

   BASETBALL (W): MARSHALL, Texas (11/15/14) - The East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team opened the year at home against Millsaps, breaking in a lot of new players. The newcomers played well as a whole in their ETBU debuts, but Amanda Rucker led the way for ETBU as they cruised to a 76-55 win.

ETBU GRINDS OUT WIN OVER MILLSAPS IN SEASON OPENER
 
   BASKETBALL (W): MARSHALL, Texas (11/15/14) - The East Texas Baptist University men's basketball team opened up the season at Ornelas Gym in a nonconference tilt against Millsaps looking to have another successful year after winning a spot in the ASC tournament last season. It was a hard fought game, but ETBU persevered winning 78-68. Dylan Augustine led the way for ETBU with 20 points, 18 of which came on six three-pointers.

ETBU FALLS IN FINAL GAME TO UMHB BUT MAKES STRIDES IN 2014
 
   FOOTBALL (M): MARSHALL, Texas (11/15/14) - Facing one of the toughest tasks of the season facing #2 the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, East Texas Baptist University's faced pace offense couldn't break through one of the nation's toughest defense falling, 83-19. ETBU started out with a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before UMHB unleashed their defense that scored 28 points in the game.

SPENCER SETS PR AT REGIONAL MEET
 
   CROSS COUNTRY (M): MT. BERRY, Ga. (11/15/14) - Landon Price finished 84th to lead the East Texas Baptist University men's cross country team at the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional meet. Price, who has been the top finisher for the Tigers in all eight meets in 2014, finished with an 8k time of 27:51.87 in his second straight appearance in the regional meet.

ETBU WRAPS UP YEAR WITH STRONG SHOWING AT REGIONALS
 
   CROSS COUNTRY (W): MT. BERRY, Ga. (11/15/14) - Sophomore Shelby Taylor led the East Texas Baptist University women?s cross country team at the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional meet. She was the first Tiger across the finish line, completing the 6k course in a time of 25:37.15 to finish 116th.
