       ETBU's Department of Communication Studies has launched the University's first all-digital newspaper, headed up by Sophomore editor Elliott Harris. The latest stories from around campus and the community can be found 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the new digital version of The Compass.        On Tuesday, October 21, the Office of Academic Success & Graduate Services will hold their annual Majors & Minors Fair from 1-3 on the main floor of the Student Center. Students will be able to meet with deans and faculty from the various schools. There will be a drawing for 6 gift cards to given away after turning in an evaluation form. Please encourage your students to attend this event and let the freshmen know that they can earn Freshmen Challenge points by attending the fair.        The Twelfth Annual East Texas Christian Writers Conference will take place October 24 and 25, 2014. We will need volunteers to assist with the conference in different ways Friday, October 24, 2014, 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 25, 2014 beginning at 8:00 a.m. with registration and continue through 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. in the afternoon. ETBU RECEIVES BGCT SCHOLARSHIP ENDORSEMENT FOR THE MASTER OF ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY
 
   MARSHALL, Texas (10/21/14) - The Theological Education Council and the Baptist General Convention of Texas recently endorsed East Texas Baptist University's new Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) degree. With this endorsement, MACM students who are preparing to serve in ministry positions will have the opportunity to receive scholarships that assist in the funding of their education. This endorsement highlights the continued support of ETBU's ministry students by the BGCT and the partnership between the BGCT and ETBU.

   MARSHALL, Texas (10/18/14)- East Texas Baptist University crowned the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen during halftime of the Tiger football game with Howard Payne University Saturday evening, October 18, 2014 at Ornelas Stadium. The King is senior Tafadzwa Charuma of Harare, Zimbabwe and Queen is senior Anna Alonzo of Marshall.

   MARSHALL, Texas (10/03/14) - The 12th East Texas Christian Writers Conference will be held at East Texas Baptist University Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25. The two-day conference is for beginning writers as well as seasoned scribes. Over 25 presenters will share from a broad range of writing experiences with conference sessions held in Scarborough Hall, Marshall Hall and the Ornelas Sudent Center.

PRICE WINS AS ETBU TAKES THIRD
 
   CROSS COUNTRY (M): SHERMAN, Texas (10/18/14) - Landon Price has been setting the pace for the East Texas Baptist University men's cross country team all season. On this day, he set the pace for the entire field, finishing first at the Austin College Invitational 5k race with a time of 16:01. It spurred the men's team on to a finish of third out of the six teams that competed.

   VOLLEYBALL: BROWNWOOD, Texas (10/18/14) - After setting a program record with ten straight wins Friday night in a victory over Hardin-Simmons, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team looked to extend that streak on Saturday against Howard Payne. They did just that, defeating the Yellow Jackets 3-1, 25-14, 25-16, 17-25 and 25-8.

GIBSON SCORES FIRST GOAL AS ETBU WINS FIRST ASC GAME
 
   SOCCER (W): MARSHALL, Texas 10/18/14) - After a rough opening to conference play, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team pulled through to get their first conference win Saturday against the University of the Ozarks 1-0. Megan Gibson scored her first collegiate goal to propel ETBU to a much needed victory.

HOMECOMING ENDS IN HEARTBREAKER FOR ETBU
 
   FOOTBALL: MARSHALL, Texas (10/18/14) - Scoring with just nine seconds left in the game to take their first and only lead of the game, Howard Payne University (4-2, 1-0) slipped by East Texas Baptist University (3-3, 0-1), 55-54. Both teams combined for 1,300 yards of offense and 17 scores in the game.

   SOCCER (M): MARSHALL, Texas (10/18/14) - For the second day in a row, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team fell short on their home field by a score of 2-0. After Texas Dallas defeated them by that score Friday night, the University of the Ozarks did the same on Saturday.

   CROSS COUNTRY (10/18/14) SHERMAN, Texas - In their last run before the ASC championships, the East Texas Baptist University women's cross country team ran at the Austin College Invitational, a 5k race. ETBU finished fourth of the four teams, behind Texas Dallas, the University of Dallas and Austin College.

ETBU SWEEPS HARDIN-SIMMONS FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS SEASON
 
   VOLLEYBALL: ABILENE, Texas (10/17/14) - Looking for their 11th straight win, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team took the court in Abilene against Hardin-Simmons for one of their hardest road matches this season. Though Hardin-Simmons has not been as good in years past, playing in Abilene is always a challenge. But ETBU rose to the challenge, sweeping Hardin-Simmons 25-21, 25-14 and 25-14.

   SOCCER (W): MARSHALL, Texas (10/17/14) - Coming home after a weekend on the road, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team took the field against Texas Dallas, who came into the game without a conference loss. ETBU gave it their best shot, but fell just short 2-1.

ETBU SHUT OUT IN RETURN TO CORNISH FIELD
 
   SOCCER (M): MARSHALL, Texas (10/17/14) - After splitting games on the road last weekend, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team came home Friday to take on Texas Dallas, one of the top teams in the ASC. The Comets came into the game with a record of 7-3-2 (2-1 ASC). Great goaltending by Juan Perales kept ETBU in the game during the first half, but ultimately it was not enough as ETBU gave up two second half goals to fall 2-0.
