Kindergarten Immersion Teacher

Kindergarten Immersion Teacher (For Education Majors) The Immersion Program is open to four and five year old Japanese children who are working towards becoming bi-lingual. Outside of a 40-minute long Japanese class, the classroom of 16 children are immersed in English; learning through songs, chants, short poems, memory work, games, stories and some phonics and writing. Due to the classroom being entirely in English, the English teacher needs to be very sensitive to the needs of their students and also quite creative in communicating with them. Qualifications: • Native English speaker • Minimum of a four year degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education (ECE) certified. • Two or more years’ experience with teaching young children is preferred. • Honest, hardworking, flexible and dedicated individual who has a warm and energetic personality and able to communicate and care for small children who have had virtually little to no English experience. Hours & Working Days: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday Actual time with the children will be from 8:30-2:15 and the rest of your day will be filled with meetings and teaching preparation. Job opening for a new children’s minister for the First Baptist Church of Tyler - South Campus. We are seeking a spiritually mature and passionate person to creatively disciple and care for our growing number of children and their families. The job requires strong leadership, excellent management skills, and dedicated service in fulfilling the required responsibilities. The South Campus Children’s Minister must be able to work well with church staff and members, successfully direct church programs, demonstrate high personal character by Christian example in public and private. He/She must be passionate about developing our children to be life-long followers of Jesus Christ. Qualifications: •A personal encounter and a daily walk with Christ •Belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God •A passion for Children and their growth in Christ •Minimum of an undergraduate college degree in a relevant field of study •Minimum of 2 years experience in Children’s Ministry and/or experience in children’s program development •Fulfillment of the requirements for and maintenance of membership in First Baptist Church of Tyler Skill Requirements: •Model a Christian moral, ethical, and trustworthy character •Be biblically sound •Lead with self-motivation, self-discipline, and enthusiasm •Pursue continuing education and growth in ministry skills •Be a team player, be a leader of leaders, and have good people skills •Lead people to become involved in the ministry to children and families and to grow the ministry both numerically and in terms of quality and effectiveness •Recruit, train, effectively supervise and motivate ministry volunteers •Organize and direct effective South Campus Children’s Programs and Events (including, but not limited to the following): Sunday school programs, Extended Session and Children’s Church, Wednesday evening programs, Vacation Bible School, Parents Night Out Program, and all other desired Children’s programs and special events •Guide and encourage the existing children and families in their relationship with Christ. •Maintain a constant level of confidentiality in all matters of the church, employees, and/or church members •Exhibit a strong team spirit and should support the other members of the ministerial staff in their words and actions •Exhibit a respect for the support staff members (secretaries, custodial staff, etc) at all times through their words and actions •Relate to church members and others with professionalism, patience, respect, compassion and grace. Management Skills: •Oversee and monitor South Campus Children’s Ministry finances working effectively with FBC’s church-wide Business Manager. Along with the South Campus Ministry Team and South Campus Operations work team, in prudently developing and maintaining a ministry-focused children’s budget each year. •Work with FBC’s joint Facilities Manager, the South Campus custodians and maintenance crews, the South Campus secretary, and relevant work team(s) to coordinate use of facilities, manage supplies, and schedule facility and equipment maintenance and upgrades. •Work with FBC’s joint Recreation Director, South Campus ministerial staff and relevant work teams to implement and maintain successful South Campus programs for children. •Implement and update South Campus Children’s Policies and Procedures Manual as needed in conjunction with the Campus Ministry Team. •Work to ensure that safeguards are in always in place to protect the children when they are participating in church activities. •Provide administrative oversight and organization of all teachers/volunteers for Children’s Ministry. Accountability: The South Campus Children’s Minster will report directly to the South Campus Pastor, and will also be accountable to the Senior Pastor. He/She will be evaluated at least annually by the South Campus Pastor and the Senior Pastor based on the duties listed in the job description. The position will be filled by a vote of the South Campus membership. Salary: Base salary and performance incentives will be contingent on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.
