About the New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation (NSO) serves as the first step to prepare you for embarking on your exciting new educational journey. Whether you are a first-year student or transferring from another university, NSO provides you with the resources to succeed as a member of the ETBU community.

East Texas Baptist University recognizes that helping you experience a positive and engaging first year can make a significant impact on your level of academic performance, engagement in the campus community, and progress toward graduation. As part of your NSO experience, you will have an opportunity to speak with academic departments, select a major, register for classes, and discover opportunities to get involved as a student at ETBU.

Schedule

NSO events are designed to give you an introduction to the many great things you can expect to experience as a student here at ETBU. Please plan to be on campus for the majority of the day. During this time, you and your family will have the opportunity to hear important information about student engagement, spiritual life, athletics, technology, and financial aid, as well as visiting face-to-face with an advisor in your major. By the end of the meeting, you will have your schedule for the Fall Semester which will include the August Mini-terms, if elected. In the days/weeks following NSO, you will also have an opportunity to select housing and meal plans and indicate your roommate choices.

Parents

Your parents are welcome to participate in the NSO experience. Our goal is to help your parents and family members provide support during your transition from high school to college.

Communication

You will receive email messages from Admissions to confirm your NSO session date and to provide essential details about the event.
