	MARSHALL, Texas (2/9/12) – East Texas Baptist’s 2012 football schedule begins with the Tigers playing just one home game through the first week of October but closing with three out of four games to be played in Ornelas Stadium against conference opponents.

•	Men's Basketball can clinch playoff berth with win Thursday over UT Tyler
	MARSHALL, Texas (2/8/12) – East Texas Baptist can lock up a third straight trip to the American Southwest Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament – something that has never been done since the Tigers joined the league back in 1998 – with a victory Thursday night in Ornelas Gymnasium.

•	Judge Sam B. Hall Jr. Lecture Series and Banquet, February 27 at ETBU
	MARSHALL, Texas (2/07/12)- The 2012 Sam B. Hall Jr. Lecture and Banquet will be held on Monday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Phillips Great Room on the first floor of the Bennett Student Commons at East Texas Baptist University. This endowed program commemorates the late U.S. Representative and federal judge Sam B. Hall, Jr., who was a Marshall native and an alumnus of the College of Marshall, which is now ETBU.

•	ETBU To Host Shadow Day, February 9-10, 2012
	MARSHALL, Texas (2/06/12)-High School seniors and college transfer students are invited to attend Shadow Day at East Texas Baptist University Thursday, February 9, through Friday, February 10, 2012. Shadow Day is an event sponsored by the ETBU Office of Admissions that gives visiting students an opportunity to experience campus life at the four year Christian liberal arts university.

•	Softball Opens at No. 19 in NFCA Top 25
	MARSHALL, Texas (2/2/12) Defending American Southwest Conference champion East Texas Baptist University is ranked No. 19 in the nation with the release of the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Tigers (36-9 in 2011) are one of three ASC East team ranked in the preseason poll with Texas-Tyler opening at No. 2 and Louisiana College No. 14.

	IRVING, Texas (2/4/12) – East Texas Baptist capped a rough opening weekend to the baseball season Saturday by dropping a doubleheader to University of Dallas that capped a weekend series sweep by the Crusaders.

•	Senior ace Pete Fitzsimmons settles in nicely after long road to ETBU
	MARSHALL, Texas (2/7/12) – East Texas Baptist University senior left-hander Pete Fitzsimmons still speaks with an accent that can only give away his native New Jersey roots. But he is every bit Texan now, especially when he grabs the baseball every week as an ace with the Tiger baseball team and takes on the best of the American Southwest Conference.

•	ETBU Students Enjoy Eye Opening Trip To Ethiopia
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/31/12)- “Eye opening,” is the sentiment of 12 East Texas Baptist University students who experienced a 10-day mission trip to Ethiopia during the Christmas break. The long journey from campus to Bona, a small village in southern Ethiopia, was the first ETBU student trip to the area. The final leg of the journey to arrive in Bona was a five hour bus trip, with the last four traveled on a very bumpy, dirt road. The whole ministry trip had over 90 hours of travel.

	MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (1/31/11)-East Texas Baptist University will welcome its third master’s program in the fall of 2012 for those interested in furthering their education in counseling.

	MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (2/1/11)-East Texans are encouraged to attend a dramatic production said to take viewers through the traditional and contemporary pieces of a classical music tradition.

•	ETBU Basketball vs. Ozarks
	CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (2/2/12) -- East Texas Baptist rallied from an 19-point deficit in the second half to force overtime, but Ozarks regained momentum in the extra time to post an 82-77 win over the Tigers in American Southwest Conference men's basketball action Thursday night.

•	ETBU’s Michael Miller a Contestant on American Idol
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/30/12)-An East Texas Baptist University student is a contestant on the very popular Fox Network American Idol show. During the episode aired last Wednesday, January 25, senior biology major Michael Miller, was shown celebrating after receiving his golden ticket to Hollywood.

•	ETBU's Jeremy LaGarde named Men's Basketball Player of the Week in ASC East Division
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/31/12) -- East Texas Baptist senior Jeremy LaGarde was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks on Monday after averaging over 30 points per game for the Tigers last week.

•	ETBU Students to Compete in the Harvard National Model UN Conference
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/27/12)-East Texas Baptist University’s first delegation in the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference will compete in Boston, Mass., February 16-18. Eight students representing Haiti will negotiate critical issues facing the world community alongside undergraduates from across the globe.

•	Mirabeau B. Lamar Medal Presented to ETBU Benefactors Joseph Z. and Louise H. Ornelas
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/25/12)- Long-time benefactors of East Texas Baptist University were awarded the 2012 Mirabeau B. Lamar Medal today. Tyler residents Joseph Z. and Louise H. Ornelas received the Lamar award for their extraordinary support of higher education during a luncheon held at the Headliners Club in Austin. For over 30 years, the prestigious award has been presented by members of the Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors, the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas, and the Texas Association of Community Colleges.

•	ETBU School of Fine Arts Presents Opera in the Attic, February 2-4
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/25/12) - The East Texas Baptist University School of Fine Arts will present Opera in the Attic, February 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and February 4 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The performances will be held in the Mabee Recital Hall of the Jenna Guest Music Building and will include scenes from The Mikado, Don Giovanni, Ballad of Baby Doe, The Magic Flute, Dialogue of the Carmelites, Die Fledermaus, and Carmen.

•	Guest Artist Piano Recital at ETBU
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/11/12)- The East Texas Baptist University School of Fine Arts will present pianist Terry McRoberts in a guest artist recital on Friday, January 27th at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Mabee Recital Hall located inside the Jenna Guest Music Building. Dr. McRoberts will present a recital of music exploring the works of Chinese composers, American composers, and Chopin.

•	ETBU student-athletes named to ASC Fall Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/27/12) -- East Texas Baptist University placed six student-athletes on the American Southwest Conference Fall Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams released Thursday.

•	ETBU School of Fine Arts Holds 5th Sunday Hymn Singing
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/23/12)- The East Texas Baptist University School of Fine Arts invites area church congregations to attend an evening of great hymn singing on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center. The service will be led by organist Dr. Al Travis and include music presented by the ETBU Choral program as well as performances by the ETBU brass and handbells.

•	ETBU Board of Trustees Approves Curriculum for New Master’s Program In Counseling
	MARSHALL, Texas (1/20/12)- The East Texas Baptist University Board of Trustees convened today for its first meeting during the Centennial year. ETBU Board Chair Sam Moseley presided over the meeting.
