Bachelor of Applied Science
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice is designed to be a degree completion program for individuals who have completed the majority of their general education requirements and who now are working in some area of the Criminal Justice profession. This might include work in such areas as policing, courts or corrections, applicable military experience (military policing), private security, or other professional experiences that may be applied toward a student's hours within the Criminal Justice Program. The degree provides a mechanism to recognize college level learning from prior work experience, individual or other types of study, prior academic experience and transfer credit in fields which are not offered at ETBU. A maximum of 36 hours can be realized in this process.
Admissions Requirements:
1. Students must be a minimum of twenty-five (25) years of age by the first class day.
2. Students must have an Associates degree or have completed the majority of their general education requirements.
3. Students must contact the BAS Advisor to develop a personalized degree program.
Assessment of Experiential Learning:
Students must provide documentation of their experiential learning to the Criminal Justice faculty. Documentation can include, but is not limited to, a combination of the following evidence: years of service within the profession, training received from the profession (TCLEOSE and others), and courses that are not offered at ETBU. Documentation must be accompanied by a current resume'.
Once documentation is provided to the Criminal Justice faculty, an evaluation will be prepared and a recommendation made as to the total number of university credits that will be awarded.
