Dr. Eric S. Thomas

Eric Thomas headshotDr. Eric S. Thomas is Assistant Professor of Music in the ETBU School of Fine Arts.  Prior to coming to ETBU, Dr. Thomas served as Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera & Musical Theater at Houghton College in Houghton, New York.

A native of Cobleskille, New York, Dr. Thomas holds a BM in Music Education from West Liberty State College, an MA in Choral Conducting from Florida Atlantic University, and a DMA in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami. A veteran of the Sarasota and Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Artist Programs and The Pittsburgh Opera Center, Dr. Thomas has received grants and awards from:  The Anna Case Mackay Foundation, The Ford Foundation, The Helen Jepson Dellara Foundation, and The William Matheus Sullivan Musical Foundation.  He is a founding member of Opera Ovations of New York.

A powerful and dramatic baritone, Dr. Thomas has won high praise from critics and conductors alike as he has developed an impressive list of operatic roles.  He has performed in operas, recitals and concerts throughout the United States and in Europe.
