University Singers

University Singers

University Singers is a select choral ensemble of approximately sixteen students, selected by audition from the Concert Choir membership. Formal attire is required for this elite ensemble.

The University Singers present several concerts, including a Christmas concert, each year and also perform in the Music Department's spring and fall choral concerts. In addition to singing in several University Chapel services each semester, the group is often invited to perform for local and area churches and civic groups.

"Singers" study and perform choral chamber music from different periods and styles such as madrigal, pop music, and "swing choir" music, as well as classical and formal literature. Recent performance repertoire includes: Vivaldi's Sing Unto the Lord, I'm Gonna Sing by Moses Hogan, Zegree's arrangement of How High the Moon and the Japanese Folksong, Takeda Lullaby. Seasonal repertoire perfomed includes: Hodie Christus Natus Est by Willan, Rutter's arrangement of Angels' Carol, E'en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come by Manz, and Wagner's arrangement of Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming.
