Scholarships and Awards

Awards:

The Jim and Thelma Williams Award was created by their children as a memorial to their father and to honor their mother by recognizing outstanding work done by a student pastor.
The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President's Award is presented to a male student with a calling to the pastorate who is planning to attend Southwestern Seminary.
The Zondervan Hebrew Award is presented to a student in recognition of his/her outstanding performance in the study of the Hebrew language.
The Zondervan Greek Award is presented to a student in recognition of his/her outstanding accomplishment in Greek Studies.
The Zondervan Theology Awards is presented to a student in recognition of his/her outstanding achievement in the study of Theology.
Outstanding Freshman Award is chosen by the religion faculty in recognition of his/her outstanding performance. The student is presented the New Interpreter's Study Bible.
Outstanding Senior Award is chosen by the religion faculty in recognition of his/her outstanding performance throughout their years at ETBU. The student is presented a leather edition of the New Interpreter's Study Bible.

L. L. Morriss Endowed Scholarship
Qualifications: Sophomore religion major (retains for Junior & Senior years if he/she continues to meet GPA requirements); planning to go into Christian Ministry; GPA of 2.5 or above

Ira H. Peak Memorial Scholarship
Qualifications: Religion ministry student major

Mr. & Mrs. John Allen Ware Memorial Scholarship
Qualifications: Junior or Senior religion major who has completed at least one year at ETBU; high moral character; proven scholastic ability

James Ralph Broome Scholarship
Qualifications: Religion major (retains for following years if he/she continues to meet GPA requirements); GPA of 3.0 or above

Jim and Thelma Williams Scholarship
Qualifications: Religion major; academic excellence

Carol T. Hatchel Endowed Scholarship
Qualifications: Senior religion major; Married; demonstrates financial need; preferably iliving in University housing; GPA of 3.0 or above

General & Mrs. Vernon B. Lewis Jr. Scholarship
Qualifications: Religion ministry student major; preference given to African-American or other minority; preference to Harrison County resident or of surrounding counties; demonstrates financial need; good moral character; neat in appearance; will remain qualified by maintaining 2.0 GPA freshman year, 2.5 GPA or better sophomore year, GPA of 3.0 or better for junior and senior years
