ETBU Tiger Football Missions Trip Cut Short
MARSHALL, Texas (6/01/09)- East Texas Baptist University Tiger Football annual missions trip was cut short over the weekend when the group of 11 players and two coaches was detained at Heathrow Airport and ultimately not allowed to enter London. The group was to have been in Britain for a week-long stay at The Elam Institute, to help with rebuilding projects there, but British immigration officials denied the group entry and sent them home Sunday to complete an incredible weekend that saw the group spend just over 24 hours in London – most of it at the airport.
According to ETBU Sports Information Director David Weaver, head football Coach Mark Sartain had started a blog to chronicle the team's efforts during the week at the following web address: http://www.tigersinlondon.blogspot.com/. "This blog details everything that happened to our team over the weekend,” said Weaver. "It is an incredible story to say the least.”
