Hank Named ASC East Hitter of the Week

SOFTBALL: RICHARDSON, Texas (3/6/13) – Tawny Hank (Fort Worth, Texas) provided #25 East Texas Baptist University with a stellar weekend at the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament and was rewarded as the East Division’s Hitter of the Week. It is the first award this spring for the ETBU softball team.

ETBU went 4-0 over the weekend only allowing a tournament best eight runs score and has an 8-0 record. Hank had a huge part in the wins both offensively and defensively. As a pitcher, she went 2-0 and had 12 strikeouts.

She earned the award for her offensive production in the four games. Posting a .643 batting average with two home runs, she went 9-of-14 with nine RBI and two doubles. She touched home plate three times and never struck out providing a 1.214 slugging percentage. Against Hardin-Simmons and Schreiner, she went 3-of-3. She also scored four of the nine runs in the five-inning shortened game vs. Hardin-Simmons.

ETBU is off to an 8-0 start and ranked #25 in the latest NFCA NCAA Division III National Poll for the second week in a row. They travel to Georgia this weekend to play in the NFCA Top 25 Tournament.
