ETBU’s Performance of Eurydice Sold Out Two Extra Performances Added
by Mike Midkiff
MARSHALL, Texas (2/05/13)- Performances for the East Texas Baptist University winter production of Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, scheduled February 7-10, are all sold out. The ETBU Department of Theatre has added two additional performances for Monday, February 11, and Tuesday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre located in the Jenna Guest Music Building.
"All original dates were sold out by Saturday of this past weekend,” said ETBU Assistant Professor and chair of the Department of Theatre Arts Traci Ledford. "Even the additional performances are filling up fast.”
"Eurydice is a contemporary retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth from classic mythology; this time, the story focuses on Eurydice's reunion with her deceased father in the underworld and Orpheus's struggle to reclaim his bride,” said Ledford.
Award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl brings to life this touching story of family, love, and loss with a mixture of poetry and pop culture that has been described as wildly imaginative, weird, rhapsodically beautiful, quirky, lush, and deeply affecting. Music, memory, and menace all figure prominently in this version of one of the most famous love stories of all time.
Ledford added, "Limited seating is available, please reserve your tickets early for the additional performances, and be advised that there is some mature content.”
Reservations are required: call 903-923-2294 or visit the website at www.etbu.edu/theatre to reserve seats.
