Tennis Program Raises Money For Wednesday's Child
by Adam Ledyard
TENNIS: MARSHALL, Texas (11/29/12) – Raising money to help a non-profit foundation, the East Texas Baptist University tennis program held a charity tournament at the end of October benefiting Friends of Wednesday Child foundation. The inaugural tournament brought in over $400 for the foundation.
"This was a great event that helped raise money for a great cause,” says head tennis coach Joe Vann. "Friends of Wednesday Child is putting this money we raised toward helping provide care and after school programs for foster children the greater East Texas Area. It was fun for all of our participants to play tennis and games to support this Foundation. We would also like to congratulate our tournament winners, Larry and Mary Vann from Gillham, Arkansas. The inaugural ETBU Charity Tennis Classic was a huge success and we all look forward to doing it again next year."
Friends of Wednesday Director of Stewardship Jennifer Banda was on hand to receive the check from the tennis program after the tournament. There were 27 people who came out to participate in the tournament as Vann/Vann won the tournament over Dwayne Word/Hannah Word (Forney, Texas), 6-3.
The tennis program will do this annual charity tournament every fall. For more information on how to be a sponsor or a part of the tournament, contact Joe Vann at jvann@etbu.edu.
