ETBU Jazz Band to Perform at Liberty Hall in Downtown Tyler
MARSHALL, Texas (11/01/12)- The East Texas Baptist University Jazz Band will be in concert on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Liberty Hall located at 103 E. Erwin in downtown Tyler.
The ETBU Jazz Band, under the direction of Professor of Music Dr. Douglas Lockard, will perform jazz hits from the past and present, opening with Got Rhythm?, an original tune from Doug Beach based on the chord changes to Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm. Other numbers on the concert include Charlie Parker’s Scrapple from the Apple, Dizzy Gillespie’s A Night In Tunisia, Work in Progress, Thelonious Monk’s Well You Needn’t, and two of Stevie Wonder’s hits, Sir Duke and I Wish.
Daniel Hatten, a music education major from Gladewater, will be the vocalist on Bobby Darin’s classic Beyond the Sea. David Buroker, a senior music education major from Federal Way, Wash. will be the featured sax soloist on Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Lady.
