The following databases are now available through Jarrett Library.  All have been added since January of 2008.

  • Naxos Music Library - another collection of streaming audio files by one of the largest classical music recording companies.  Up to five simultaneous users may listen.
  • Theatre in Video with BBC Component - collection of over 250 streaming video files of major plays.  Also includes some documentaries on the craft of theatre arts.  The BBC component includes the entire works of William Shakespeare as presented on the BBC from the late 1970s through the 1980s and starring major stars of the British theatre and film industry.  Up to three simultaneous users can watch.
  • American Civil War Research Database - primary source database that contains service records of nearly every soldier and sailor who fought in the American Civil War - on both sides of the conflict.  Other documentation includes photographs, diaries, letters, and more.  Continually updated as new documents are discovered and digitized for the collection.
  • Opera in Video - collection of hundreds of opera productions from the past thirty years, with performances by major voices in the opera world.  Also includes documentaries on the craft of opera and opera production.  Up to 3 simultaneous users may watch.
  • CQ Global Researcher - reports on major topics with an international slant.  New reports are added monthly.  This database complements CQResearcher (a database with similar reports only with a U.S. slant) and can be searched simultaneously.
  • ARTstor - a collection of over 800,000 images in nearly 100 collections.  Includes famous works of art, photographs, and more.
  • GreenFILE - database covering topics related to ecology, the environment, global warming, and going "green".
  • Literary Reference Center - a new EBSCOhost database with several hundred full text journals not currently carried by any other literary database on our list.  Also includes a large number of electronic books on the topics of literature and authors.  Can also be searched via the traditional EBSCOhost interface by clicking here.
  • Security Management Practices - covers critical IT, legal, financial, and physical security information.  A dozen new reports added every month, covering diverse topics such as deploying network security appliances, using biometric technologies for network and physical security, managing organizational risk, planning for disruptions, securing the enterprise network, and more.  Extremely useful for business but also an important resource for education, sociology, communication, medicine & health, or any area where security is an issue.
  • JSTOR Arts & Sciences Complement - this JSTOR collections adds another 150+ journal titles to any of your JSTOR searches.  The collection complements the Arts & Sciences I-IV collections, covering many of the same subject areas.
  • Global Road Warrior - a comprehensive business travel, telecommunications and business culture reference.  175 countries are covered and each listing includes key facts, communications, service support while on the road, technical support, and business culture sites.  Although developed for business the information on culture, politics and religion will be useful in the study of sociology, political science, and religion to name a few.  If you are planning on taking a trip overseas this is a great database to look at.  Also includes maps, lists of embassies and consulates, and much more.
