ATHLETICS: Thirty-two ETBU student-athletes named to Fall ASC All-Academic team


MARSHALL, Texas (12/1/09) – Thirty-two student-athletes competing in ETBU’s fall sports have been named to the 2009 Fall American Southwest Conference All-Academic team announced Tuesday.

In all, 408 student-athletes from the 15 universities and colleges in the conference were named to the All-Academic team, which includes the sports of football, cross country, soccer and volleyball.

Seventeen ETBU football players were named to the team, including sophomore Billy Baker of Seagoville; junior Evan Beaton of Whitehouse, senior Keiston Bennett of Texarkana; sophomore Andrew Boyce of Livingston; sophomore DeWayne Hamilton of Mabank; senior Shea Harborth of Gilmer; senior Brandon Joslin of Royse City; sophomore Elias Kawesa of Royse City; sophomore Charles Marsh of Santa Fe; sophomore Brent Milby of Splendora; sophomore Kirk Palmer of Bremond; senior Kyle Pope of Longview; senior Austin Sturrock of Sour Lake; junior Michael Uvalle of Garland; junior Brad Wallace of Whitehouse; and sophomore Steven Wright of Jefferson.

In cross country, four Lady Tigers qualified for the team. Those four were sophomore Kara Beall of New Guinea; sophomore Amanda Bell of Tanzania; sophomore Cameron Christy of Hallsville; and junior Casey Lantz of Haughton, La.

Men’s soccer players earning All-Academic honors were senior Ryan Collins of Tyler; sophomore Hugo Gonzalez of Chicago, Ill., and senior Seth Walker of Tyler. Lady Tiger soccer players making the team were senior Jenna Jones of Lumberton; sophomore Brittany McCloskey of Texarkana and sophomore Danica Saxon of Tyler.

Volleyball honorees included senior Jane Hays of Hereford; sophomore Brittany Herbort of Fredericksburg; sophomore Keely Schlabs of Hereford; sophomore Haley Stamm of Crandall; and sophomore Nicole Vanderlaan of North Richland Hills.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or better and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
