VOLLEYBALL: ETBU's Kourtney Adams named ASC East Newcomer of the Year

MARSHALL, Texas (11/10/09) – ETBU junior Kourtney Adams was voted the American Southwest Conference East Division Newcomer of the Year in voting by the league’s coaches for this year’s All-ASC volleyball teams released Tuesday.
Adams, a native of Hallsville who transferred to ETBU this season from Panola College, ranked in the top four in the ASC in hitting percentage, kills and total points won. She was the Lady Tigers’ team leader in total kills (369) and was second on the team in digs (385).
Adams was also named to the All-ASC East first-team, where eight of the nine members were from the division’s top two teams, ETBU and Texas-Dallas. Lady Tigers also voted to the first team were senior Jane Hays (Hereford, TX), sophomore Mary Morgan Swanson (White Oak, TX) and sophomore Brittany Herbort (Fredericksburg, TX).
Sophomore Chelsea Manningham (Longview, TX) was also voted to the team as honorable mention.
The Lady Tigers finished the season with a 20-11 record and advanced to the program’s ninth consecutive ASC Tournament. ETBU is set to lose just one senior from this year’s team going into next season.
