CROSS COUNTRY: ETBU teams compete at Centenary College Invitational


SHREVEPORT, La. (10/3/09) -- ETBU's cross country teams continued action this past weekend by competing in the 2009 Centenary College Invitational.

The Lady Tigers finished sixth in the team standings with 156 points, edging LeTourneau which finished with 164. Northwestern State won the ladies division with 34 points, following by Grambling State (44) and host Centenary with 54. Lon Morris was fourth with 118 points following by Louisiana Tech with 130.

Sarah Grey led ETBU with a 21st overall finish in 27:53.00. Kara Beall was 27th in 29:08.25, followed by Amanda Bell at No. 31 overall in 29:43.23. Cameron Christy finished 35th overall in 31:29.33, followed by Casey Lantz at 41 overall in 33:06.91.

On the men's side, the Tigers finished sixth overall with 172 points. Grambling State edged Northwestern State, 46-53, to win the men's team championship.

Casey Morris was ETBU's top runner, finishing 21st in 30:07.33. Mitch Barton was next at 31 overall in 31:32.11, followed by Antonio McNeil in 39th place at 38:16.78. Joe Brown finished 40th on the course in 39:27.92, followed by Jeff Martin's 41st finish in 39:53.73.

Both ETBU teams will compete in Marshall's FireAnt 5K Run this weekend. After that, ETBU will run at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss., on Oct. 17.
