MARSHALL, Texas (5/8/09) -- Louisiana College scored the game-winning run on a throwing error by La Verne in the sixth inning Friday, allowing the Lady Wildcats to survive and advance with a 2-1 victory in an elimination game Friday night at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship First-Round Tournament at East Texas Baptist University.
The Lady Wildcats (38-8), coming off a tough 1-0 loss to ETBU earlier in the day that forced LC into the elimination game, fell behind 1-0 to La Verne (29-17) on Kari Granger's RBI single to left that scored D.D. Burns in the third inning.
