Jones, a junior defender from Lumberton, was voted to the second team. It was second straight year in which Jones, a three-year starter for ETBU, has been named all-conference.

Saxon, a freshman midfielder from Tyler, was named to the third team, as was freshman goalie Erin Mason, of Mabank.

Saxon finished the season as the Lady Tigers’ leading scorer, with seven goals and two assists. Mason started every game in goal, finishing with 61 saves and five shutouts. All Mason’s shutouts came against conference opponents.

The Lady Tigers finished the season at 7-10-0, nearly doubling their entire win total (4) from the 2007 season and coming within one game of making the American Southwest Conference tournament.

Southwestern pulls away from ETBU in second half
MARSHALL, Texas (8/30/08) – ETBU's young Lady Tiger soccer team held its own against Southwestern and the East Texas heat Saturday, but the Lady Pirates were able to use a couple of quick goals in the second half to pull away from a 4-1 win at Cornish Field. ETBU (0-2) dropped its second straight game to open the season, played about 20 hours after the season opener Friday night against Millsaps. Combined with playing in temperatures in the mid-90s that forced game officials to allow water breaks midway through each half, facing the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference runnerup from last season was a tough hurdle to climb for the Lady Tigers.

Second-half goal carries Millsaps by ETBU in opener
