ETBU football coach Mark Sartain completed his third season with the Tigers in 2009. He was named just the second head coach in the history of the modern-day program following the 2006 season, taking over in December of 2006. Sartain is a longtime veteran of the East Texas coaching ranks, including head coaching stops at Cross Roads, Athens and White Oak, as well as serving as the head football coach at Trinity Valley Community College for three years prior to being named the Tigers' head coach.

Corey Chancellor
Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator

Corey Chancellor finished his third season as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at ETBU in 2009. The Tigers have never finished lower than fourth in either total defense or points allowed in the American Southwest Conference under Chancellor's direction over those three seasons. Chancellor joined ETBU in January of 2007 from the staff of Trinity Valley Community College, where he had worked under Mark Sartain. Chancellor is a native of Athens and has coached in the high school ranks in Texas as well as his stint at TVCC.

Former All-Lone Star Conference offensive lineman Zac Bryant has been on the ETBU staff the last three seasons, serving as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. Coach Bryant, who played collegiately at Southwestern Oklahoma State in 2002-03 following two seasons at Citrus Junior College, also was named ETBU's running game coordinator last season. He joined the ETBU staff in January of 2007 after a two-year stint on staff at Tyler Junior College.

Dan Burk joins the Tigers' staff this season after having been head coach at Conroe Caney Creek High School in Conroe, Texas, last season. Coach Burk has also been head coach at Yoakum, Navasota, The Colony, Wimberley and Ranger high schools, as well as working collegiately on the University of Arizona staff as a head assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Former Tiger standout Colby Jackson completed his first season as a coach at ETBU in 2009. Jackson played linebacker and safety at ETBU from 2004-2008, with an injury redshirt season in 2007. He finished his playing career at No. 7 on the Tigers all-time tackling list, with 177 stops. A native of Emory, Jackson serves as a defensive assistant as well as a junior varsity assistant on the ETBU staff.

Rodney McLain

Rodney McLain will be in his first year as a full-time staff member at ETBU in 2010. Coach McLain was the Tigers' running backs coach last season as a student coach and is set to finish his bachelor's degree at ETBU in May of 2010. McLain played three seasons at ETBU from 2006-08 after having transferred to ETBU after signing with the Air Force Academy out of Prestonwood High School in Dallas.
