SEGUIN, Texas (11/3/08) – ETBU sophomore Rachel Weaver finished 13th overall at Saturday’s 2008 American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships, earning second-team recognition on the all-conference team in the process.
Weaver, a native of Jacksonville, ran the 6K course in 25:47.1 to finish 13th in the individual standings. Led by Weaver, the Lady Tigers finished sixth overall out of 11 teams at the meet, with a total of 178 points.
Mississippi College, with two of the top three runners, scored 46 points to take home the team trophy for the women.
Joining Weaver atop the ETBU leaderboard Saturday was freshman Angela Panozzo, who finished No. 36 overall in 28:04.7. Freshman Kara Linn Beall was 39th in 28:32.8, with sophomore Nicole Carroll finishing 43rd in 28:55.9.
Other finishers for the Lady Tigers were sophomore Amanda Bell, who ran a 29:29.2 to finish 47th, and freshman Cameron Christy, who was 51st overall in 30:08.7. Sophomore Casey Lantz was 60th after finishing in 33:31.2.
On the men’s side, ETBU finished ninth overall with 228 points, with Texas-Tyler winning the team title with 27 points. Freshman Casey Morris was the top Tiger finisher with a 30:37.3, good for 38th overall. Sophomore Jacob Turnipseed finished 39th overall in 31:01.3, followed by junior Kenneth Webb, who was 46th in 32:52.7. Freshman Kendre’ Smith finished 51st in 34:58.9, followed by sophomore Jeffery Martin who was 54th in 37:49.8.

Webb, Weaver pace ETBU at Centenary meet
SHREVEPORT, La. (10/9/08) – Rachel Weaver and Kenneth Webb were the top team runners for ETBU’s cross country squads last Saturday at the 2008 Centenary College Cross Country Invitational.
Weaver, a sophomore from Jacksonville, posted a second straight strong finish for the Lady Tigers, who came in fifth overall in the team standings. Weaver ran a 26:34 for ETBU to finish sixth overall, which comes on the heels of an eighth-place finish in her previous outing at Northwestern State University.
Freshman Cameron Christy was second on the ETBU squad, coming in 12th overall in 27:36. Angela Panozzo was 21st overall in 29:06, followed by teammates Nicole Carroll (30:50, 25th); Kara Linn Beall (31:22, 26th); Amanda Bell (31:34, 27th) and Casey Lantz (33:35, 33rd).
Webb, a junior from Marshall, paced the Tigers’ third-place finish by coming in 11th overall in 32:13. He was followed by Eric Gibbs, who was 17th in 34:48, and Casey Morris, who finished 19th in 35:44.
Other finishers for the ETBU men were Kendre Smith, who was 21st overall in 36:46, and Cameron Dossey, who finished 22nd overall in 38:01.
Rachel Weaver finishes 8th at Northwestern
NATCHITOCHES, La. (9/30/08) – Sophomore Rachel Weaver highlighted ETBU’s cross country teams in action this past Monday by posting an eighth-place finish overall in the 2008 Northwestern State University Invitational held at Demon Hills Golf Course.
Weaver, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Texas, ran a 22:07.20 on the 5K course to post the best time yet this season by a Lady Tiger runner. Overall, ETBU finished fifth in the team standings with 107 points, 70 points behind meet winner Grambling State and just one point behind host Northwestern State.
Other top finishers for the Lady Tigers were freshman Cameron Christy of Hallsville, who finished 20th overall in 24:02.13. Angela Panozzo finished 24th in 24:53.06, followed by Nicole Carroll (26th, 26:06.14) and Kara Beall (29th, 26:44.15). Amanda Bell finished 31st overall in 27:05.31, and Casey Lantz was 32nd in 27:12.00.
On the men’s side, ETBU finished fifth overall while running solely against Division I competition. The Tigers’ top finisher was Casey Morris, who finished 23rd overall on the 4-mile course in 24:41.17. Kenneth Webb was next for ETBU, finishing 31st in 27:35.69, followed by teammates Ryan Cooper (32nd, 29:04.42), Kendre Smith (29:33.34) and Eric Gibbs (35th, 29:46.10).
ETBU’s teams will run this weekend in Shreveport, La., at the Centenary College Invitational.
ETBU teams finish third, fourth at SAU Invitational
MAGNOLIA, Ark. (9/20/08) -- ETBU's men's and women's cross country teams finished third and fourth overall, respectively, in Saturday's Southern Arkansas University Invitational held at Laney Farm.
It was the first meet for either ETBU squad this season. Both teams are scheduled to race in the Northwestern State University Invitational set for Monday, Sept. 29, in Natchitoches, La.
Host Southern Arkansas won both men's and women's meets Saturday. The Tigers came in third with 64 points, while the Lady Tigers finished fourth overall with 80 points.
Kenneth Webb was the top finisher for the ETBU men, coming in 11th in 33:35.70. Jacob Turnipseed was second for ETBU with a 13th-place finish in 33:54.58, followed by Casey Morris in 14th place at 34:35.07.
Other finishers for ETBU were Eric Gibbs, who was 16th overall in 36:04.17; Kendre Smith, who was 18th in 37:09.29; and Jeff Martin, who was 20th in 38:45.33.
For the Lady Tigers, Cameron Christy finished 11th overall in 23:34.21, followed closely by Rachel Weaver, who was 12th in 23:50.16. Angela Panozzo was 19th overall in 24:57.97, followed by Nicole Carroll in 25th place at 27:26.86.
Other finishers for ETBU included Amanda Bell (28th, 28:01.19) and Casey Lantz (31st, 28:29.30).
