Football Skills Camps

ETBU will host the 2008 Tiger Football Skills Camp on June 9-11 and June 16-18 in Ornelas Stadium.

Pre-registration for the camp is $50. Those who do not pre-register will pay a $60 registration fee the first day of camp.

ETBU head coach Mark Sartain and his staff will provide instruction during the camp, with position-specific work as well as group and team concepts. Training times will also focus on weightlifting, conditioning and special teams.

An awards ceremony will be held the final day of camp, and each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. All campers will need to provide their own clothing, cleats, tennis shoes, towel, as well as bringing spending money for refreshments and camp souvenirs.

Certified athletic trainers will also be on duty to provide necessary assistance, but each camper must be covered by their own personal insurance to attend the camp.

The June 9-11 camp will be for rising 5th-8th graders, while the June 16-18 camp will be for rising 9th-12th graders.

Lady Tiger Volleyball Summer Camp

ETBU volleyball coach Lyndsay Mashe and Lady Tiger players will host the 2008 Lady Tiger Summer Volleyball Camp June 23-25 in Ornelas Gymnasium.

Cost of the camp is $80 if paid before May 30. Registration fee is $90 if paid after May 30.

Coach Mashe and camp staff will cover all the basics of volleyball during the camp, including passing, serving, hitting, blocking and defense. All campers will need to provide their own court shoes, kneepads (optional) and athletic apparel.

The camp will consist of a morning session and an afternoon session, with the morning session running from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. for 6th-8th graders. The afternoon session from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. will be for 9th-12th graders.

Lady Tiger Softball Summer Camp

East Texas Baptist University softball coach Janae Schlabs-Shirley and her staff will host the 2008 Lady Tiger Softball Camp on June 9-11 and June 23-25 at Taylor Field on the ETBU campus.

Cost for this year's camp will be $75 per camper, and will include a camp T-shirt.

Camp sessions will focus on hitting, bunting, slapping, pitching, infield play, outfield play, base running and other game situations. Campers should bring their own glove, bat, batting helmet, workout clothes, cleats and catcher's gear (if available).

Campers will receive individual instruction, an emphasis on fundamentals, pitching instruction from retired softball Hall of Famer and former Louisiana Tech head coach Bill Galloway, and an opportunity to work with and be seen by college coaches and athletes. The camp will also include separate games and contests.

Camp session one, from June 9-11, will be for players entering the grades 1-7. Camp session two, from 23-25, will be for players entering grades 8-12. All sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
