 It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Nursing web site. We have expert and dedicated faculty and staff committed to preparing students for success in the nursing profession. We trust are students will follow in the footsteps of our Department of Nursing alumni, who have distinguished themselves by providing caring, competent health care to citizens in Texas and throughout the world!

Facing the future in health care with critical shortages of personnel will be challenging. We seek to meet those challenges by continuing to create stronger and more flexible academic programs. To this end, the faculty and staff have adopted and incorporated the following values into the goals of the Department of Nursing: EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING, LEARNING, NCLEX PERFORMANCE, AND SERVICE. Our students represent the future of health care and we must continue to nurture these individuals through outward, daily demonstration of these values, spiritual, personally and professionally.

SPECIAL NOTE:

The nursing program at East Texas Baptist University received their ten year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The site visit was conducted on October 5th, - 7th, 2005. After three days of interviews with faculty, administrators, students, and community leaders, the review committee found that all standards were fully met and all elements under each standard were fully met. The reviewers had no recommendations but made several commendations regarding the student involvement in the community, the faculty-student relationships, and the relationships between faculty and administration. ETBU received official notification from CCNE in June of 2006. The site reviewers were Mary Tarbox, Catherine Knuteson, and Amelia Joseph.
